Microsoft has decided to add a mute option for the startup chime in newer builds of Vista.
The best Battlestar Galactica ad ever…
For those who don’t get to experience scifi’s brilliant marketing here’s a screenshot. 🙂
Battlestar Galactica webisode 1
For us non-americans, brought to you by youtube. Watch it quick before it is removed. 🙂
Configure the Firefox 2 beta 2 tab close button
Just a little note for me if I decide to try the latest beta, from a comment at slashdot. 🙂
- Start Firefox.
- In the Address Bar type “about:config” and press Enter.
- Right-Click and select New->Integer.
- A box requesting the Preference Name will popup and you should enter “browser.tabs.closeButtons” (without the quotes). Press OK to continue.
- Now you need to select the type of close button you want:
0 – display a close button on the active tab only
1 – display close buttons on all tabs
2 – don’t display any close buttons
3 – display a single close button at the end of the tab strip (Firefox 1.x behavior). After entering the value corresponding to your preference press OK again.
Vista startup chime
Just read in Ed Bott’s blog that Windows Vista will include a startup sound that will always play when the computer has booted and you can login. Having a startup sound is fine, but having one that you cannot disable without hacking system dlls is not.
It almost sounds too crazy to be true.
Synchronizing Google Calendar with my phone
I’ve finally found an application that can synchronize Google Calendar with my phone, SE k750i. It’s a java application for phones called gcalsync, and from my initial testing it seems to work just fine.
Previously I’ve tried using Remote Calendars for Outlook and then from Outlook to my phone using the sync software I got with my phone. But Remote Calendars didn’t work very well, and on top of that the two step sync process isn’t very user friendly.
Maybe things would be even easier if Google added SyncML support to Google Calendar, but right now it looks like there are no such plans.
Transformers movie teaser
Doesn’t say much, but it teased me 😉 So I guess it worked as intended.
Spring Xbox 360 dashboard update
Looks like the next update contains at least one feature, in addition to some user interface tweaks, I’ve wished for many times. The ability to download stuff from the live marketplace in the background.
The media system has also been changed but I have no idea how. I can’t for my life understand what ign is trying to describe.
Changes to the Media section might send little shivers of relief up your spine. Music is now seamlessly integrated into your dashboard to such a degree that you can now play the music of your choice while playing a game without fiddling around.
But I’ll find out soon enough, next week 🙂
Battlestar Galactica spinoff
Not anything new, but I just found out. A spinoff series has been announced called Caprica. I really like the new Battlestar Galactica series but the description of this spinoff just scares me.
Caprica will weave together corporate intrigue, techno-action and sexual politics into television’s first science fiction family saga
If it gets produced I’ll probably give it a shot anyways. Can’t get enough sci-fi I guess.
Battlestar Galacticsimpsons
The Battlestar Galactica characters drawn as Simpsons characters. Most of them are at least worth a short chuckle 😉 The drunk Tigh was the best I think.
